summer vacation: fashion

March 25, 2012

Matt and I decided this year that we really needed to plan and take a vacation and when better than in the summer- so we have already begun our planning and I'm so excited. We don't get to do much and it's much deserved when we do finally get away as a family. We are planning to stay with my aunt at her house in Calabash, where they have the cutest little stores and the most delicious diners & restaurants. We've planned to take the kids to see some Myrtle Beach spots and to take as many little beach trips and picnics as possible. Since I'm doing summer school, I have classes Monday through Thursday- so we would be leaving Thursday afternoon after my class and won't get back until Monday.

We have never been to the beach as a family. We took Adriana when she turned one- for her birthday. Ryland was born a year and half later. Last year, Matt and I went to the beach together to kind of get away and it was amazing but I missed our munchkins. It was a once in a blue moon opportunity so we took it and were extremely grateful. Our trips will be the four of us from this point forward.

So I wanted to start a new thing here and post things that will help me organize this trip and may inspire others to get away this summer too. I have a lot of fun posts planned about the best toxin-free, eco-friendly toys for the beach and pool as well as ways to save money before and on your trip. I also have some really great tips, idea's and ways to make a car ride a little less hectic and more simple for parents and more fun for the kids.

I have put together a few outfits I'll be purchasing
soon for the kids to wear on our beach trip.

  1. Calabash is so nice and family friendly/low key :) Vacations, even short ones, are so crucial, it's sad we have to push them back sometimes (been there, done that!) Look forward to reading more about your plans!

    1. aw thanks! I'm looking forward to sharing all I've got! I grew up visiting there all the time, my grandparents lived moved there after living up north for so long. We would go a few times a year and we always looked forward to it. I am trying to make traditions like that for our little family so I think it's appropriate now that they are old enough to remember and do things that are fun!

    1. thank you- we're pretty happy. Myrtle is soooo busy all summer long so it's good just to go for a night to eat at the great places and walk on the board walk! Calabash is a much more quiet and quaint beach- we love it <3
